The African Queen and the African Princess are berthed just upstream of The Victoria Falls at the Royal Landing jetty. The boats meander approximately 3km up stream along the length of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park treating passengers to sophisticated views of the Zambezi River and the surrounding game reserves.

The Elephant Café is an exciting offering with the area located approximately 10 kilometres upriver from the Victoria Falls at Zambezi Elephant Trails. The guests’ experience begins when they board a boat to cruise upriver from Victoria Falls, keeping an eye out for wildlife in the national parks that border each side of the Zambezi River.

Enjoy the African bush veldt and the Zambezi River riding along the riverbanks on the back of a horse. Whether you are an experienced rider or a novice it is a very pleasant and peaceful way to see game and enjoy the birds and the ride. Animals are less disturbed by a person on a horse and it is quite possible to watch game at very close quarters (sightings are not guaranteed).

The lady Livingstone is famously known as “The Jewel of the Zambezi”. The cruise takes place along the river boundary of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. During the cruise, guests are likely to see hippos, crocodile and some good birdlife.

Dr David Livingstone was paddled in a dugout canoe through swift rapids towards the roar and rising cloud of mist suspended above a cliff over which the whole of the mile wide Zambezi River plunged. The ‘Makoro’ (canoe) paddlers skilfully landed him on ‘Goat Island’ (now known as Livingstone Island) right on the lip of the chasm.

Game viewing is an African experience not to be missed. Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park in Livingstone encompasses the Falls and stretches some 12 kms along the riverbanks of the upper Zambezi. It is home to wildlife such as the white rhino, buffalo, elephant, antelope, as well as a host of bird life.

This is a combination of the sunset River Safari and African Queen & Princess sunset cruise. The first part of the cruise (River Safari) is done at a leisurely pace through the various channels between the islands. Guests enjoy snacks and drinks on one of the islands and then the Safari boat continues upstream on the Zimbabwe side of Siloka Island where it meets one of the boats of the African Cruise Company.

Probably the best way to appreciate the beauty, peace and wildlife of the Zambezi River above the Falls is to canoe on the mighty Zambezi through narrow channels and drift down past stretches of one of Africa’s most enchanted rivers. Paddle past crossing elephants and hippo pools and spot abundant birdlife and game as you drift past The Zambezi Game Park and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
